Heskey made his Leicester debut in 1995 and it wasn't too long before he established himself as one of the brightest young talents in English football. The following year he scored seven goals in 30 appearances, helping the Foxes earn promotion to the Premiership via the Play-Offs.

His international career was also starting to blossom as he starred alongside Michael Owen in the England Under-18 team which finished third in the European Championships in France. Caps then followed at both Under-21 and senior level, while success on the domestic front saw him claim two Worthington Cup winner's medals with Leicester City and involvement in UEFA Cup football.

The England international made an instant impression on his debut, earning a penalty in front of the Kop end after just three minutes against Sunderland.
